One of the more accurate biographies, the author appears to have toured Chamberlain's home describing many of its treasures including two uniforms with bullet holes from Petersburg and Quaker Road. Sadly for anyone wishing to learn more about Chamberlain's wounds, these coats were not preserved except for a small clipping from them.
The author goes on to describe Chamberlain's horse Charlemagne and the spot where he was later buried.
The author also lists many famous visitors to Chamberlains home. One of the visitors was Carl Schurz the leader of the anti corruption Mugwump movement against James Blaine for president in 1884.
